Lucio Foglia and Mark Tavaré have been collaborating on architectural projects since 2012, refining their skills and developing a shared design ethos over the years. Throughout their careers in architectural practice, they have contributed to nationally acclaimed, award-winning projects. Their longstanding friendship and professional synergy naturally led to the founding of FT Studio in 2021.
At FT Studio, we are dedicated to crafting thoughtful, functional, and elegant spaces. We believe architecture should enhance everyday life, balancing aesthetics with practicality while fostering meaningful connections between people and places.
With experience spanning residential, commercial, and historic projects, we take a considered and context-driven approach to design. Every project is tailored to our clients’ needs, aspirations, and the unique character of its surroundings—ensuring spaces that are both timeless and purposeful.
Lucio Foglia
Lucio is a chartered architect with over 13 years of experience working in Cambridge, specialising in high-end, one-off houses and residential developments. He has a keen eye for contemporary design that responds sensitively to its surroundings, complementing the local vernacular. With a particular interest in sustainable construction and natural materials, Lucio strives to create architecture that is both innovative and enduring.
Having grown up in Cambridge, Lucio is deeply passionate about the city and its architectural heritage. He returned to complete his architectural studies at the University of Cambridge after completing both his undergraduate and postgraduate degrees at the Edinburgh College of Art, University of Edinburgh.
Mark Tavaré
Mark has over 15 years of experience working in Cambridge, specialising in high-end, one-off houses and extensions, as well as unlocking the potential of complex sites for residential developments through innovative design solutions.
He studied Architectural Technology in Sheffield before becoming a Chartered Architectural Technologist and later earned a master’s degree in Real Estate, at the Cass Business School, London. Mark refined his design skills at the multi-award-winning practice Haysom Ward Miller, where he developed a strong appreciation for elegant, well-considered architecture.
In addition to his design expertise, Mark brings valuable hands-on experience from constructing his own small property developments—including his most recent eco self-build home for his family. This practical knowledge allows him to collaborate effectively with contractors, ensuring that his designs are both buildable and cost-efficient. He has a deep appreciation for simple, understated detailing and a carefully curated palette of materials, creating spaces that are both functional and beautifully executed.
